Intruder 1989
After a bit of a seemingly directionless start (which actually sets up a lot for the last act), this film quickly becomes a crescendo of increasingly more grizzly and creative kills, with a really fun reveal and tension-fuelled finale.
Unlike a lot of typical slashers, these kids didn’t really do anything to deserve their fates. They aren’t inherently bad or irritating, just a bit dim. Thankfully the pacing doesn’t give you a chance to feel much for them.

I absolutely rinsed this movie when it came out. I’d sit and rewatch specific scenes out of context. I’d skip to the credits to listen to Slipknot, Coal Chamber and Fear Factory back-to-back before school. Honestly, I can still quote most of the dialogue. That door code is forever burned into my memory (04031965).
Soundtrack slams. Sets are grotty and gorgeous. CGI hasn’t aged well but the countless practical effects still look great. Milla Jovovich rocks that red dress/leather boots…
