So much shouting and avoiding simple conversations with your wife that would make your life 100% easier aside...

This is probably the only intentionally funny Michael Bay movie that succeeds at being funny.

The colour grading, slo-mo and birds eye shots remind me that, once upon a time, action movies used to be badass and not completely fucking boring.

I really do have a gripe with making characters stupid in order to have a plot though. Julie is terrified of being found... but also wants to leave the apartment? And is shocked when the bad guys find her? Okay.

I like that this film has a Very Obvious Point to make, but makes it well while still prioritising being an entertaining film. There's some points of on-the-noseness that I can let slide because the plot, pace and cinematography delivers. It seems Jack Quaid is Hollywood's "nice guy" of choice these days, and he's damn good at it.

I know it's an iconic scene and what was going to happen, but actually got quite heavy-in-chest when the blood dropped on her and the bucket knocked Tommy out. I felt this remorse that she never had anything remotely nice happen to her. Just one big trauma.

Like, yes, burn it down. Burn 'em all. Especially that dumb bitch in the cap.

Definitely suffering with age, but it's a loyal adaptation. Anthony Hopkins carries this in the latter half, which had me losing interest rapidly. Absolutely lost my mind laughing at Keanu Reeves "valley girl does London" accent.
