A fun and occasionally gnarly time! The story is pretty ridiculous, centering around a rare existing condition that is surely exaggerated for maximum effect, but the solid performances and sharp humor make it work. Quaid has been on a roll as of late, and he is the perfect choice to play charming goof and good guy Nate. I liked how the movie took the time to establish his connection with Sherry so that there was something to be invested in…

Some movies should simply not be rewatched in adulthood. I remember finding this amusing as a kid, and the idea of a sentient robot is a fun premise. Unfortunately, the story is fairly thin and bland with fewer laughs than expected. And Stevens in brownface as an Indian character who frequently mixes up common adages... yikes. The capper is the truly wretched ballad that closes the film.

Rather irritating. Grant delivers a great performance, fully embracing his villain era, and Mr. Reed makes several strong points regarding the ridiculousness of religion despite me wanting to punch him for the endless mansplaining. However, the plot is too dependent on the missionaries making poor choices, with the pace coming to a crawl in the second half and the convoluted design of the story and house becoming quite frustrating. I might have liked this a little more if it hadn't been marketed as horror, and it's a film that falls apart easily once you start to poke at the numerous plot holes.

Gross, disturbing and a whole lot of fun. Although I was familiar with the general premise going in, it was exciting to watch the story unfold and see the very bizarre routes it took. Moore and Qualley both give excellently committed performances, and Quaid oozes the perfect amount of sleaze. I adored the slick look and feel of the movie coupled with the amazing sound and music. At first it rubbed me the wrong way when the film fully went…
