The story is pretty ridiculous, centering around a rare existing condition that is surely exaggerated for maximum effect, but the solid performances and sharp humor make it work.     Some movies should simply not be rewatched in adulthood. I remember finding this amusing as a kid, and the idea of a sentient robot is a fun premise. Unfortunately, the story is fairly thin and bland with fewer laughs than expected. And Stevens in brownface as an Indian character who frequently mixes up common adages... yikes. The capper is the truly wretched ballad that closes the film.
