Runaway Bride 1999
Very cute but honestly they are both kinda the worst. Sad to think these larger budget rooms just aren't made anymore except on occasion for steaming. This sort of film would never make its budget back in cinemas as it's fallen into the "I can watch those at home" category for most people.

The Last Showgirl 2024
Really surprised me how much I enjoyed it. Some great class commentary here and there and quite an in-depth look into someone's psyche who bought into the glamour of Vegas only to find out how shallow it really is. JLC was fantastic here and Anderson has her moments but has some rather poor scenes too. Supporting cast were mostly fine except Bautista in possibly the strongest performance I've seen from him? He's great and adds some believability and weight to key scenes. Very good!

Another excellent class comentary from Baker which works to further destigmatize sex work. Definitely see the Uncut Gems comparison here. Someone having to grind their way to a dream of not having to care if their job doesn't have a pension plan. There's also some What's up Doc energy in the slapstick encounters in their home and search for the Nepo baby. Fortunately Baker never feels like giving it an ending which feels too heartwarming and just hits you in…

Gladiator II 2024
Loved the action scenes and everything with Denzel in it. The rest was alright. Mescal is too subtle here. He needs to be performing like he's on stage. Not helped by a script that gives him little to do, although offering more interesting developments to others. Maybe sticks a little to close to the original but at least it delivers on spectacle. Who was in charge of that score though?
