  This just won best picture at the Oscars (as expected), so I think it would be good to supplement my previous glib 2 sentence letterboxd entry with some more fleshed-out thoughts....

  First: the good.
  --First 15 or 20 minutes is really nice--visually interesting, puts its frenetic energy to a useful purpose, etc. Saw a review comparing it to PTA; I think that's a nice point of reference.
  --Cast is good.

  I already put a lot of my thoughts into a previous review. However, upon learning that the whole S&M gag sequence (I can’t stress how unintended that pun is) features the White Daniel (you know…the creepy one) in the M seat, I am officially demoting this to one star. The most self-indulgent movie of the past 5 years, in a way that is actually much worse in its inevitable effects than if it were another bland film. “more films like this please!” No.
