Most of this film is so unsettling that I don’t understand why horror fans don’t enjoy it more than the average slasher that offers little to no suspense.

However the final happenings vanishes the fears and attempts a kind of relationship drama torment and I suppose kind of works, but also falls a bit flat.

Garland really does some cool stuff with the audio and his characters screaming (I’m looking at you too, Civil War).

Yeah look, this was mostly really affective. Shame he’s quitting the directing gig aye.

Exceptional filmmaking used on a fairly pointless story that very much lost me in the second half.

    Notes:

-That train shot was excellent and has stuck with me.

-If you’re going to have a title card saying “Overture” you should probably, you know… have an overture for more than 10 seconds.

-Corbet pieces together images and music to create sections of film that end up as beautiful concepts, the likes of which we don’t often get in cinema. “Visionary” might be applicable here.
