The Secret Path 1999
My first instinct was that this was really sweet and a good comfort movie. Unfortunately, or fortunately, my critical thinking kicked in shortly after that.
My biggest issue is probably that the story, while tragic, has a too idealistic ending without much information. Honey and Too Tall send Joanne off with a soldier, who they’ve just met and she’s only spoken to twice, with their entire life savings. We’re just supposed to believe it was smooth sailing for her from there?

This felt like an appropriate watch after May December. The writers were either trying to make Mary Kay Letourneau sympathetic or show the viewers how her brain worked/how she saw things. Whatever the case, watching a grown woman fall for the “game” of a 13 year old was mind boggling.
