  Mike Leigh has the ability, unlike others, to make these mundane stories so full of life and humanity. I am obsessed! Two scenes hit me the hardest: the one where Hortense and Cynthia leave the cinema (a brief and fleeting moment that reminded me of my bond with my mom) and the final shot of the women out in the backyard. It is all so beautiful! Women and mother/daughterhood relationships make you feel something. We are all lost and alone in this world, but we survive. This movie touched me.
