On artistry alone this is a 5, but a big part of what i enjoy about films is having fun, and I just was frankly bored by the somber naturalism of the film. Characters felt 2-dimensonal and the folkloric reasoning did little to engage me.

Smile 2 2024
Masterfully done in comparison to the first film. Carried over the great sound and solid presentation, they just brought in a much more compelling story this time and dialed up the scares. Almost maybe too much? It got so dark I was legitimately instilled with a sense of dread and discomfort I haven't felt in quite a while. Almost could have used some more light-hearted jokes to balance it out, but I also can't really complain when I go into a horror movie and get thoroughly horrified.

I really appreciate what this is going for, but it might just be too long and too quiet for my poor attention span.
