I think THE SUICIDE SQUAD just reinforces that I'm not really into James Gunn's filmmaking style. Unless it is within the prism of a Disney mandate to be accessible, cute, and have solid story beats & action like his GUARDIANS films.

At the end of the movie, villain says he can keep robocop alive, robocop says "dead or alive you're coming with me" that's a really clever way to work in that classic line. in this version it's Robo saying "even if i die, you're comin with me" it's a vulnerable but noble interpretation of that line!
And that kind of sums up the appeal of this movie for me. Original Robocop was pure 80's metal muscle & self-referential parody (to perfection).…
"ALIEN: COVENANT" I'm a fan of the ALIEN prequels. I really enjoy Prometheus, warts and all. It's actually one of my fav sci-fi films ever. I wasn't one of those people who were upset that it excluded the Xenomorphs. I was more than down to tackle the lore of "The Engineers". This movie is pretty damn imaginative not only in terms of comedy but also animation. i remember liking this movie as a kid, but now as a professional illustrator adult, I really recognize how much actual quality there is here. it's oldschool and has a level of organic messy polish that I quite enjoy.
The "Itsy Bitsy Spider" accompanying short film reflects the same qualities condensed into ten minutes. I remember being a really big fan of the short film as well as the Bebe feature.
This movie is also a good watch during a very unfavorable election. We don't die, we multiply.
