    Mostly like the openheartedness of this, but it did tip over into irksome sentimentality at times. 

    Biggest mistake was defanging its villain, making him just a young boy who needed his ma. Zovatto has so much presence that was hinted at, but they didn’t capitalise on it. 

    Jeevan and Kirstin stuff was very poignant, however.

    Even though this is mostly a one-location movie, there is gorgeous filmmaking here -  split diopter shots, you name it. Ultimately, though, it’s all in service to a hokey reveal that feels like something from a lesser episode of The Twilight Zone.
