  Mostly like the openheartedness of this, but it did tip over into irksome sentimentality at times. 

  Biggest mistake was defanging its villain, making him just a young boy who needed his ma. Zovatto has so much presence that was hinted at, but they didn’t capitalise on it. 

  Jeevan and Kirstin stuff was very poignant, however.

  By turns tedious and exhilarating. Too often, we’re being told what’s happening instead of feeling it. Got so sleepy, but there’s spectacle to spare, and I perked up any time there was talk of the messianic prophecy. Also loved the scenes where Paul Atreides starts finding his messianic groove. Chalamet, for such a toothpick, was able to summon an impressive ferocity..
