The decision to include Sonny's son as a central part of the story is good and bad; bad in a sense that you are clearly not showing restraint and trying to cash in on the most legendary part of the first episode (which is not really surpassed and can't be) but at the same time the kitchen scene lets Coppola explore what Michael's relationship with Sonny would have been…

    Dark ages Pacino. This is another one of those movies where a young director gets to play with these veteran actors who were not getting enough substantive roles back then, but in showing almost too much respect and ceding too much control to the cast ends up exposing them a little bit; the lack of direction is showing.

    Another manifest example of how bad Hollywood is at writing convincing fake musicians (these songs suck and they are worsened by the fact that he injects mediocre pop songs into the movie, to share his actual bad taste).
