Carrie 1976
A moral desert in which the characters all suspect each other of having evil intentions when relatively few actually do: Carrie is not the whore her mother thinks she is; Sue Snell and Tommy Ross are not the bullies that Miss Collins think they are; and when Carrie cops the pig's blood, she enacts bloody judgment on far more souls than the at most 4 who are actually responsible. The violence is orgasmic but the moral desert lingers: no truths are revealed and most of the characters die without ever being redeemed or understood.
