  better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime 

  working my way through the scorsese's i haven't seen and god this was good. why is de niro so good at playing absolute lunatics? sandra bernhard is hysterical and also very attractive to me. will absolutely be revisiting this one.

  only one is a wanderer; two together are always going somewhere 

  i think alfred hitchcock may have legitimately hated women. like even by 1950's standards, the way all of the women in this film are treated is grating. it's hard to look past even when the color, blocking, and shot composition are this brilliant to look at. 

  jimmy stewart is very convincing as the worst detective of all time. also a 2+ hour run time and no redemption scene for midge? for shame. 

  kinda disappointed. the only part that lived up to the hype for me was just how green it was.

  all our prayers do nothing. 

  feel bad movie of the year probably. neon hyped it up so, so wrong but it's so, so good. like if silence of the lambs and se7en had an occult worshiping devil baby in the 90's pacific northwest.

  she liked it more than ayrton senna's scorched racing helmet? 

  yorgos' twisted little sketchbook of sickness. i haven't heard dialogue this slanted since inland empire. a triptych that asks is love just a power dynamic? and how far are you willing to go to be "loved?"

  some of the pieces feel a bit less than one of his full length single idea projects, but they're all effective and uniquely uncomfortable to sit through. loved the use of silence, the stripped to nothing piano and choir score, and the cobrah and eurythmics needle drops. emma stone please call me back.
