The final Stooges short ever is a Curly remake with Joe and a Marilyn Monroe wannabe. Not great or terrible. Its like a ceremonial graduation for Joe into a legit Stooge. He was in some Shemp remakes but a Curly remake is a real honor. They avoided drawing that comparison and maybe putting him in that role killed the series or maybe they were already "cancelled" and wanted to honor Curly with their farewell.

Oil's Well That Ends Well 1958
Apparently this is one of only 2 Stooges shorts where they are the only on-screen performers/characters so this is a full display of Moe, Larry & Joe's chemistry. Its wall-to-wall slapstick and doesn't rely on talking animals, hot girls or villains. Its strange one of their purest attempts at vaudeville is a Joe short and its not that bad considering they're old and this seems lower budgeted. Its said Joe didn't like violence but you get plenty of it in many…

Pumpkin 2002
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I hate overexplaining movies but I see too many bad reviews of good movies because reviewers can't detect symbolism or irony.
This film, while a tribute to Douglas Sirk romantic melodramas & John Waters campy shock comedy, inverts MULHOLLAND DRIVE. The final act is a deathdream where Caroline imagines the impossible outcome where she & Pumpkin are allowed to be together while her subconscious wrestles with the guilt of suicide. The color scheme, pace, tone & director change after the scene where she…

Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls 1995
Jim Carrey broke his no sequel rule for a kid-friendlier movie that is still very edgy. This is way more absurd, visual & cartoony thanks to writer/director Steve Oedekerk (KUNG POW: ENTER THE FIST) who gets Carrey's humor better than Jim's other directors. This is showcase of Carrey at his rubbery & energetic peak as a slapstick physical comedian. We also get an IN LIVING COLOR reunion from Tommy Davidson.
What makes this memorable is the racial politics as Ace saves two…
