    It's influence might be more impactful than the film itself. Tokyo Drifter's fingerprints are all over so many stylized action movies, with its unbelievable air of detached coolness that clearly influenced works like Drive, John Wick, and most of Tarantino's filmography.

    It's weaker than Suzuki's other standout film, Branded to Kill, but Tokyo Drifter is work seeing to at least see its sincere explosion of pop art inspired visuals polished over a slick narrative.

    It's a rather beautiful and hopelessly romantic picture. It is the kind of enchanting love story that makes movies so magical. For such a wonderous plot with most of its story pure fantasy, it, like many of the Archers' other films, is deeply humanist.
