Eerie, at times utterly terrifying, with an amazing performance from Lupita Nyong'o. It didn't quite grab me like Get Out did, but it is touching on a lot of themes. I don't think they all get fully baked, but I think this will stand a rewatch in a year or two to see his it all settled in my brain.

Snow White 2025
There is something to be said for a movie that is a big, wild swing that fails spectacularly; something like Cats, say. But this isn't a spectacular failure, it's just not a very good movie. Rachel Zegler has a lovely singing voice, but her performance is very surface, and the same can be said for Gal Gadot, who seems to have been…

Black Bag 2025
Much more Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy than Bond or Mission: Impossible, which is a complement. It's an intricate burn, but by no means slow at one at a tight 90 minutes. Fassbender and Blanchett fucking rule, and I love that I didn't have it all figured out by the end. Very much like a play, with a lot of small scenes and dialogue, which is great with a cast this strong.

Deadpool & Wolverine 2024
The positives: the movie looks good, with some good fights. Jackman and Reynolds obviously love playing these characters. I got a kick out of the cameos
The negatives: that's all this has. The plot is paper thin, with villains whose motivations are mostly, "We're the bad guys." The fourth wall breaking/references are dialed up to 13 and gratuitous needle drops to a point it's distracting. The emotional beats are equally thin.
As a fan of comic movies? Glad I saw it. Probably will not revisit.
