    On third watch my score does not change. The verve of the first 1.5 acts (basically everything leading up to the search) does make me scratch my head at the more unsteady, languid pacing of the rest of the film. But most of this still works for me (and ALL of Mikey Madison’s performance works for me).

    As an Osgood Perkins fan, I was so excited for this! Sadly, much of it didn’t work for me. The scares weren’t scary enough, the comedy wasn’t funny enough, and the deaths - while cartoony and fun - somehow felt lacking as well. This makes me sad! I was looking forward to this so much!

    Though a couple of emotional beats felt overly sentimental or too convenient, this is nonetheless a powerful, funny, and smartly drawn film about theatre’s unique ability to inspire empathy, to connect us, and to play a role (however small) in healing our wounds.
