This is a masterwork; the masses don’t lie. City of God is gripping and heartwrenching. I loved it. I feel like I want to cry. I have put on Jorge Ben Jor’s “Forca Bruta” to try to maintain the feeling but even that is too visceral. It is rare that a movie hits so deeply, changes one’s perspective so quickly and intensely. I am sorry. I want torrents to erupt and wipe away all of the pain we have caused to humans, ourselves, for all of eternity. We are cruel. We are evil. I am sorry.
