Francis, who did you make this film for?
Because the kids are not alright.

Architecton 2024
I for one enjoy the big rocks being sifted and turned into concrete to the sound of electronica. Like the Qatsi trilogy meeting the Zion sequences in The Matrix Reloaded.
And then we just randomly follow architect Michele De Lucchi in a field, just for a mild Gardener's World break as he tries to figure out his horticure project, forcing garderners to make round stone circles.
The film really works in isolated fragments, but not sure the film stands up on its own.

The Substance 2024
I did not like this much, but this is not a genre I like that much (body horror even more so), so take what I say with a pinch of salt.
The Substance ultimately suffers from being as empty and vacuous as the industry it portrays. Touching on points that Sunset Boulevard touched years ago, it doesn't have interior goals beyond surface level black humour. it's the beauty equivalent of an anti-war film—when simply depicting something risks endorsing it.

Space Dogs 2019
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Don't watch this if you like or love cats.
Space Dogs is quite slow and dull, with interesting moments of complex dog relationships, but feels empty when punctured by traumatic archive footage of animal cruelty. It is an unsanitised look into man's relationship with animals, and the trauma of living on the edge of civilization, but lacks the heart that can turn this away from nihilism.
That being said, even if it was gold, seeing stray dogs kill a cat is really bloody traumatic and probably ruined the whole experience.
