I’m genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed this film. Despite it being filmed in 1939, it’s comedy seemed to land so well with the entire class (myself included)! I was satisfied with the plot’s speed, and the viewer’s lack of information (specifically when John Barrymore’s character was seemingly aiding Eve Peabody for no apparent reason) certainly kept us guessing and effectively captured and held my attention!

Noticing all the motifs this second time around 🤌🏼 Truly reminded me of how much I appreciate Jordan Peele’s films. Someone wondered in lecture whether the film would have been as successful as it was if the comedy was absent: no. The comedic scenes offer a moments to take a deep breath, resetting the audience to be deeply disturbed and terrified all…
