The Brutalist 2024
First half bangs, second was sluggish imo. Watched it in parts over a couple days. Theater experience would’ve been tough with the runtime.
One of my favorite openings to a movie ever, the main theme fit it perfectly and was very epic. Thought they were trying to be too ‘stylized’ at times and seemed like a Frankenstein amalgamation of similar recently released movies (big Oppenheimer influences). Brody crushed. I legit thought this was a true story until the last 1/3rd

Dune: Part Two 2024
So epic. A must in imax.
I’m glad Denis fleshed out Irulan & Shaddam a bit more than the books do. Irulan had the coolest outfits too, that last one was straight neo-medieval. The decision to save Alia for the 3rd installment was also smart. Still waiting for a navigator, thought we were going to get one with the big ship at the end.
I had given part 1 a 4 1/2 due to missing a few key scenes (dinner party/secret garden) but thought the pacing & adaptation in this one was excellent.
