Consistently clever, funny and surprising - See as cold as you can. Jack Quaid is a goddam treasure and Thatcher is a star.

Strange Darling 2023
At times inspired, at others, hokey AF - (but elevated hugely by dynamic photography from actor-turned-cinematographer Giovani Ribisi). It exists somewhere between Blood Simple, and one of the 1000s of Tarantino knockoffs that clocked up your local Blockbuster circa 1998. It has some clever ideas but like so many films delivering a twist that subverts expectations, once it shows it’s hand is far less compelling.

Killer Joe 2011
From its opening beaver shot to the breathtakingly unpleasant climax that caused 25% of the audience i saw it with to walk out, Killer Joe is a sweaty piece of gutter-sleaze shot through with humour so black you'll struggle to find it amongst the sexual horror on-screen. William Friedkin, I salute you.

mother! 2017
Mother! is a stone cold masterpiece and my favourite film this year…you’re also just as likely to hate it as love it. Like the best of cinema it's divisive, provocative, thought provoking and exhilarating. Imbued with the spirit of Bunuel, Greenaway, Polanksi, and Pinter its a metaphorical horror that despite a clear intention works for any number of phycological terrors.
