    Saving Silverman

    ★★★

Jack Black and Steve Zahn elevate this deranged buddy comedy that has a flimsy premise.

Jason Biggs feels out of place for some reason, but you end up rooting for him anyway.

Amanda Peet is excellent as the controlling ice queen girlfriend trained in mixed martial arts. There’s a great scene where she demands an Arby’s “Big Montana” and curly fries fresh after kicking everyone’a ass.

There’s some outrageous set pieces that are so hilarious and dumb, but work nonetheless.

It’s hard to call this underrated since it has such notable stars.

    Cheesy, but heartfelt and rewatchable.

They sure don’t make ‘em like this anymore. This movie is so crass, brutal, and unapologetic about it all.

You’ll have to stomach a lengthy build up that eventually pays off once the vampire action starts.

Harvey Keitel and George Clooney go toe to toe despite the lopsided power dynamic. They have compelling banter and quickly form a strange bond that tests their faith and trust. Effectively, this raises the stakes and comes close to redeeming an otherwise scummy protagonist.

Disgusting at times (e.g. feet), but still enjoyable and filled with great practical effects.

    Anora

    ★★★½

Anora is one of countless women who choose  to participate in dehumanizing sex work that is nefariously upheld by some as indicative of a free society.

Free will is just another pillar that props up our misogynistic world which objectifies and commodifies women for men’s pleasure.

The son of Russian oligarch Nikolai Whatever exemplifies the worst of these insular and underdeveloped men. You’ll cringe every time this brat plays video games while Anora holds him like a child.

    Anora isn’t fazed…

You took 7 years to make this and failed to correct occasional unreadable lens flared subtitles. Lazy.

Terrible accents all around. Just scrap the accents. I can still suspend disbelief and understand I’m watching a period piece.

    Beautiful visuals. Fine cinematography.

After learning about the use of

A.I., I had to knock this review down. Do better.
Here’s an idea: pay artists and pay dialogue experts.

Again, you took 7 years to make this and still had to take shortcuts. Pathetic.
