Like most horror films, there is either a killer on the loose or a supernatural element to it. This takes the horror genre and instead firstly views it from the lens of mental illness and then leans into the supernatural, which makes the diagnosis of Deborah Logan even more complex. It’s shot as a documentary type film by a PHD student, and this doesn’t detract from the film, but adds to its ongoing eerie nature. The film does have jumpscares…

The Equalizer 2014
A great film which definitely takes its time to fully flesh out the story. The film can feel like it does drag on sometimes, but the story is action-packed and very thoughtful in its execution. Action is definitely the thing to see this movie for and Denzel is peak Denzel - absolutely incredible. Loved this film and let’s see what the next one holds.

Whiplash 2014
Whatta film. The fast and hectic nature of the film definitely makes the film intense and gritty. Loved the direction of the film and a story between teacher and student is given incredible depth and complexity. The strive for perfection is definitely one where the protagonist’s blood, sweat and tears are both metaphorically and physically put into his drumming. Great one to watch.
