Turned this on as a random movie just to watch something, and what a pleasant surprise it was. This was such a lovely story. A story about self acceptance and living life to the fullest.

The dialogue was absolutely captivating. The chemistry between Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack was undeniable. Performances both strong and beautiful. The way that they communicated with each other and watching them show their vulnerabilities was touching.

Really really caught me by surprise here.

Need to watch again before my formal review. But this was dope, I think all my Letterboxd peeps will really enjoy . Rating is between 3.5-4 which is why I need the rewatch. I believe this is my error and really a 4 not actually a 3.5. Also haven’t seen many movies like this

This was an absolutely pleasant surprise for me—I had a great time watching this in theaters. This movie is bound to be a victim of its own marketing because the trailers suggest an eerie horror film, but let me tell you, that’s not what you’re going to get. Instead, it’s an outrageous, whimsical, dark horror comedy, and it absolutely nails it.

The Monkey is completely self-aware and sets the tone from the very beginning. It maintains elements of horror, creating…
