  kinda fun, occasionally obnoxious, but its narrative has a gripping style. pretty clear that it’s from a different time in regards to how it deals with gender and workplace sexual harassment, and frankly I’m not surprised that miramax produced this with the way that those themes are handled.

  this movie is a document of its existence in the sense that i can imagine multiple meetings of board room execs just salivating at the prospects of the profit they can rack in. all the movie does is just go off a checklist of possible IP to reference, but the experience is a total void.

  A film in which France tries to become an imperialist super power again by conspiring with a stay behind navy group to test nuclear weapons in one of their former colonies (where this has happened before), right as the native population is planning to revolt? This should sound like something for me and for everyone who has cursory knowledge about subjects like Operation Gladio or Colonia Dignidad, and yet it wasn't.

  goofy, baffling, stupid and charming

  i understand it's a comic book movie (which makes this a circular argument), but its visual style is so obviously lifted out of the matrix films. And to then have the same main actor?
