Loved this. Love a Brighton Beach- set movie. Shoutout to Mill Basin (Dolly's Ices, baby). I've tried to park where Toros got his car towed on W 12th St in Coney Island.
Anyways this movie felt effortless and propulsive and unpredictable. Seriously funny a lot of the time. Different than I expected in a very good way.
First things first: this movie, unfortunately, isn't about baseball at all (unlike the movie I watched the night before).
Now that that's out of the way, we can start talking about what this movie IS about. JK you all know what it's about if you're reading this.
Demi is really good in this and so is Margaret Qualley and, even more unfortunate than the lack of baseball, Dennis Quaid is great too.

The excellent cast makes this movie extremely funny at times. A lot bit absurdist, a little bit surrealist, a little bit satirical, a little bit messy. My favorite of this guy's movies, but "Joshy" (2013) had superior (superb) focus pulling.
