wow, what a film.
had no idea it was based on a book, (mickey7) but joon-ho excels with chaos in a film, and every lawless second of this film held my attention. I’m itching to watch it again, and again.
I also desperately want a red “17” chest tattoo now, as a memento.
side note:
“this Mickey’s mild, this Mickey’s habanero.” - easily my favorite line.
It honestly took me a minute to get adjusted to the way this film is shot, and I feel like it was a little jarring at times. But wow is this film pretty to look at.
But wow did the last like 20 minutes send me into a spiral; sincerely hope this one wins best picture.
So this is definitely more of an art project rather than an actual film. I could not sit through this film, and will probably never finish it. To me, it feels like it openly objectifies women. I made it maybe 40-50 minutes in and had to leave. This film is a prime example of why it is so hard to trust men. As a mentally ill, queer women, this was very hard to watch. I may have some unresolved ptsd,…
God, what a bisexual awakening this was for pubescent me.
And 20+ years later, a terribly sad awakening to how much I’ll miss one of the best jobs I’ve ever had, because my coworkers are some of the nicest, funniest, sweetest beans I’ve ever had the honor to meet. I love you, Alamo beans.
