(Watched the Director's Cut) One of Argento's best giallo movies. Incredible cinematography, the camera just floats through scenes like a dream. The musical choices are spectacular: whenever the blaring diegetic opera music or moody synths give way to power metal, you know it's time to strap in.
The violence feels particularly brutal. It's partly that the blood looks less cartoonish than some of his earlier movies. It's partly because of the editing, with attack scenes stretching out, really showing us…

What a fun found footage movie. Starts with a very patient unveiling of its core mystery and plot, but the last 30 minutes or so (from the ritual in the boat onwards) felt pretty breathless and harrowing. You think you know where it's going to go, and you probably sort of do, but it still manages to have some properly shocking surprises.
While I wish that the movie was able to reveal more about the classified info that is mostly just alluded to at the end, I still found it a fairly compelling watch. I'm not sure it has a ton to say about justice or crime or crypto, but it is an interesting, albeit flawed, character study.
