    Reign of Fire

Well acted and well directed, more so than I expected. Pretty quality cgi for 2002, the dragons look really impressive and the cgi sets the grittiness of the world up so well. Bale and McConaughey are great in this, Bale gives the movie an emotional core and McConaughey delivers an aggressively unhinged performance as a mad Dragon hunter. Gotta be McConaughey’s most underrated performance. No doubt a fun and enjoyable cult classic here.

“Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven, is that it?”

A pretty interesting premise for a film. Keanu and Pacino are pretty solid in this, Pacino kills it with his monologues especially. The film cleverly explores themes of temptation, power, and the price of ambition with some solid direction and a good narrative twist keeping watchers on the edge til the very end. All that said, this movie just didn’t hit in the way I was hoping it…

David Lynch’s ability to capture and execute ideas, concepts and feelings via cinema is next level. Mulholland Drive, although a layered surreal labyrinth of a film, is even better the second time around. Mulholland Drive is a masterpiece as far as I’m concerned. It is tied together with great writing, acting, pacing, an eerie score, visceral visuals, enigmatic story telling and euphoric immersion. Truly a thought provoking and captivating cinematic experience, an experience that confronts the nature of desire, fear,…

“I guess it’s because I used to be a brother, and now I’m not a brother anymore.”

An emotional and gradual descent into a brutally tragic story that I wasn’t even aware of, don’t know how this movie can’t move any viewer. A real solid performance by Zac Efron, what a long way he has come. I enjoyed the film style of Iron Claw, not too much that popped in terms of cinematography but the few shots that did were…
