  Spy films have always interested me, and this had the potential to be the epic of all spy features. While The Good Shepherd has an engrossing premise and the performances are great some aspects of film stray away from the main storyline and instead we get various snippets within a 40 year timeframe.

  None the less I still think this an entertaining and interesting film and Robert De Niro, having this is be his second turn as a director, is well executed for the most part.

  Within the first few minutes of this movie it was at a solid 3 and a half stars for me. Moment by moment and onward until the finale it made its deserving 5 star rating.
