I finished the book about 3 hours ago, and it’s just so tonally and visually different I wonder what happened behind the scenes. In the book, the setting is a world that’s in its death throes, with virtually no one left that isn’t totally swallowed up by a virtual reality hive mind . Here, it’s discount Ready Player One.
