What an absolutely beautiful movie. I’ve only just found out that some of the cast were actually inmates involved with the program that is the subject of the movie and I’m in awe. The performances given by everyone were fantastic but Colman Domingo especially gave such a vulnerable one that it somehow moved me more than I was expecting (and I was expecting to be moved a lot).

I’d heard of kneecap before watching this but I didn’t know much about them other than their nationality. Safe to say I’ve got some new music to listen to at the gym. Despite only understanding a quarter of their lyrics, their energy translates.

Love the plot twist that there was a fan in the room the whole time
Before I knew anything about this movie other than the basic concept, I thought it was just some cheesy 80s sci-fi remake until I read somewhere that the plot was a metaphor for addiction. My curiosity peaked, I gave it a go and I couldn’t be more pleasantly surprised.
Part of me wishes I didn’t hear about this addiction metaphor beforehand because that would’ve given a rewatch more value but I don’t see myself needing a reason to rewatch this.…
