    Generic Vietnam War flick on pretty much every level.

    The only reason to watch it re the perfs, notably Glover, Reed and of course Hackman (RIP) who I watched this in tribute to. He's great, notably in a couple of brief, wordless scenes with Vietnamese villagers.

    Danny Glover's flying scenes shot from the cockpit are pretty good too.

    When I first watched this, I found Miranda to be the villain of the piece: a demanding, shrewish spoilsport. But when I first watched this, I watched it from the perspective of a kid who would've LOVED a warm, funny, engaged dad (or a nanny!) like Robin Williams around.

    Most of that rating is for Marilyn's genes and her dress designer. The rest is for the stunning sets and location work. Otherwise...this is an odd film, a stagey "comedy" that's not that funny, a romance that's not that romantic.
