Expected this to be awful but it wasn't
This is my favourite period in music history and I'm a fan of all of the musicians featured in this film
The first half is stronger, the second half meanders but has its moments. Mangolds best film since Logan. It's somehow both mediocre - like every music biopic we've seen before but also clearly reaching for something else/different - beyond that generic mould. I didn't love it but despite myself I think…
As a huge W&G fan, I wasn't sure what to expect with this reboot (of sorts)
However I needn't worry as it was everything I could wish for and more
It was so funny and unexpectedly epic!
Animation was incredible. I'm assuming mostly stop motion with a bit of CGI but used sparingly and well
Also Is it just me or could the plucky policewoman have her own spin off series a la Shaun The Sheep, just a thought...
Either way I absolutely loved it

An absolute mess from start to finish and not even a hot one
It was absolutely hilarious but I'm not sure it was ever trying to be
Saw it at IMAX as part of MIFF and that's the only way it should be viewed
It should be played like The Room and people can enjoy the communal experience together
