  NOOOOOOO STINKEEEEEEEE (Its politics are even more relevant today. One of the greatest movie murder mysteries of all time in how it simultaneously flouts whodunnit conventions and adheres to them.

  Rian Johnson also knows that doing an Agatha Christie pastiche means the detective probably doesn’t have a dramatic emotional arc or undergo change ((CAN YOU HEAR ME, KENNETH BRANAUGH!!! I’M TALKING TO YOU!!!!!!!!!)). The detective is a tool to guide us; they are the needle, we are the thread, and the suspects are the cloth - they are the ones who change.)

  NEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHH STINKEEEEEEEEE (Rosemary’s Baby meets The Omen with a dash of The Birds and a sci fi bent. Shackled by an opening expository narration that grounds the story and prevents the film from entering realms of sublime weirdness, the movie nevertheless takes some strange and dark turns. Enjoyed the unexpected dark comedy from the evil kid, who likes to swear at adults and has a Georgia southern drawl.
