'Joshua' is director Spangler's second blaxplo-western with Fred Williamson as the title character. A simple plot with simple characters makes for a surprisingly swift moving and entertaining story as lone rider Joshua (Williamson) returns home after serving in the Civil War. Finding his mother murdered, Joshua turns bounty-hunter as he searches for her killers to exact bloody vengeance.
Not brilliant but far from terrible, with an interesting score and inventive (!) death scenes. 'Joshua' is well deserving of a lazy Sunday afternoon viewing; watch as Williamson oozes cool smooth!

Hmm...not bad, not great. Cruise makes for a good lead, but hoped Werner Herzog would be a more formidable player! A fairly solid if somewhat predictable story. Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of fun, but the ending falls a little flat. Still, definitely worth a watch if you fancy a bit of Cruise without the full-on-action, which makes for a pleasing change from his usual fare.

John Woo-yaaaaa! Tony Leung and Chow Yun Fat work well together in this film about a cop and undercover agent's attempts to bring down the local gang boss, with Leung's subtlety and charm complementing Fat's tough determination. Action aplenty and gunfire galore deliver thrills and copious blood spills! What are you waiting for?!

Director Han-min Kim's first notable directorial effort is excellent! Gripping and involving from its opening scenes, with brilliant and engaging performances by the leads. Visually gritty and exciting from start to finish in its depiction of the Qing Dynasty's barbaric invasion of Korea. We all love a good revenge story, but this one offers something a bit different as savvy archer Nam-Yi attempts to rescue his sister from Manchuria. This film is a must see!
