Dark, suspenseful sci-fi thriller with a solid set up that really racks up the tension and kept me locked in especially early on.
The plot itself is familiar, but still interesting. Nicole Kidman was on form and did a fine job. Daniel Craig and Jeffrey Wright provide decent support.
Would’ve went a bit higher on the rating but the second half of the film dropped off considerably and felt a bit rushed for me. Still worth a go. Score - 7/10
Painfully dull sci-fi whodunnit with heaps of honking dialogue it doesn’t even fall onto the so bad it’s good shelf. Enjoy a random punt now and then but this was just boring. Heaps of time for some of the cast but not much landed unfortunately. Score 3/10 🌗
Under appreciated or overrated seems to be the common question posed whenever this one is mentioned in conversation.
I’d say for me it’s somewhere in the middle, it’s got clear shock value and gore which makes for a difficult watch at times, but you could tell this was made with an affectionate nod to early horror films.
I quite liked the style used and could see what Rob Zombie was trying to do but there’s a lot going on, visually….and…
