I was completely floored by this stunning film. The performances are the best I’ve seen in a Spanish film and perhaps some of the best I’ve ever seen. Incredible shattering renditions of hope, loss and regret. My wife being from this part of Spain I’ve seen a number of films and TV depicting this chapter of Spanish history and this makes the others look tired and goofy. I loved this film- the ending had me in tears.

Payne is amazing. This film is incredible. You are rag doll flung between your loyalty for all characters, who all want something that is almost the opposite of what the audience want. Tracey flick is an amazingly drawn character who you detest but after giving it 12 hours from watching you realise she isn’t the villain. The ending is perfect. One of the happiest endings- you are genuinely happy at the outcome for all characters fulfilling their ‘destiny’.

This film hasn’t dated even though it’s 14 years old. Very exciting, amazing cinematography and effects. The story is great if not a little bit vague. I found it a bit simplistic and visceral on this viewing - not a sophisticated story just pretty simple Cat and mouse caper. I can imagine this will be a film they show people to illustrate post- 9/11 Bush era’s effect on cinema. Really brought me back to how we all saw the world going back then. Very much worth a watch if you’ve never seen it but not amazing on second viewing.

The most beautiful, wonderful, imaginitive, hilarious film i've seen in 12 months. This is so original at every turn. The direction is stunning, to think it's not made by a veteran but a relative newcomer. This is my favourite Tilda Swinton performance of all time. I just burst out laughing every time I saw her. Torres is also hilarious. This is better than any Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry or Charlie Kaufman film I've ever seen. To use Drake's terminology: Torres is going 100mph on roads paved by his heroes. Amazing film. Bravo.
