I was not ready for a daytime TV viewing of My Own Private Idaho at age 14 or 15 on the IFC channel. Although my memory is hazy, I found the Shakespearean dialogue off-putting and didn't know how to engage with the relentless, quintessentially Pacific Northwest melancholy that hangs over this film. Anyone from Livejournal circa 2006 remember a spate of emo fanfics about men getting pregnant (MPREG)? Was actually traumatized about one particularly southern gothic story where Frank Iero and Gerard Way were an item and Gerard thinks he's been knocked up.
