The Boys from Fengkuei 1983
The transitional phase between childhood and adulthood is beautifully captured by Hou in this early film, which contains many of the trademarks of his later films. There's incredible feeling of life going on, moving from one place to another, trying to make money, falling love, meeting new friends. It all feels very real and organic.
