I like that Spike took a swing for the fences here, but it didn’t land for me. I admire his attempt to broach the subject from a different angle, and despite some great performances, the tone felt off considering the subject matter.

DeNiro has at least 6 perfect line deliveries in this, Grodin plays it super cool, and there’s a helicopter. That being said, this could’ve been 25 minutes shorter and needed more Dennis Farina.

I hated this when I first saw it, but decided to give it another chance since someone keeps giving this clown money to make movies. 18 years later and impossibly, I hate it more. This movie could be reproduced by grabbing any hillbilly out of a Hot Topic, showing him the Texas Chainsaw Massacre along with maybe 3 70s horror trailers and giving him the same 7 million dollar budget. It’s just embarrassing.
