On the Job Training

Internal and external developments in higher education are leading to transformation of education being placed high on the agenda. This places a great burden on the professionalisation of the staff. In a previous article (Hezemans and Ritzen, 2004) we described the way in which professionals learn and innovate. Communities of Practice (CoPs) were introduced as a ‘new’ way to learn. In this article we further zoom in on the phenomenon CoP: what are CoPs, what are the success-factors and how can this way of learning and working together contribute to innovation in higher education.

Meslek Yüksekokulları, mesleki eğitim alanında ülkemizin çok önemli eğitim kurumları durumundadırlar. Teknik Bilimler, Sosyal Bilimler, Sağlık Bilimleri, Tarım, Hayvancılık, Sanat, Askeri ve benzeri alanlarda eğitim ve öğretim faaliyetlerini yürütmekte olan bu kurumlar, ilgili sektörlerin yoğun olarak ihtiyaç duyduğu mesleki bilgi ve beceri seviyesi yüksek insan gücünü yetiştirmekle görevlidirler. Meslek Yüksekokulları bu önemli görevi yerine getirebilmek için 2 yıllık eğitim öğretim süreleri içinde hem teorik hem de uygulamalı eğitim vermektedirler. Bu eğitimler meslek Yüksekokullarının kendi fiziki imkanları ölçüsünde uygun derslik, atölye ve laboratuarlarda yürütülmektedir. Yaz dönemlerinde ise öğrenciler eğitim aldıkları alanlarla ilgili işletmelere staja gönderilmektedir. Meslek Yüksekokullarının kendi fiziki imkanlarıyla yürütmekte olduğu bu eğitim ve öğretim faaliyeti, çok büyük bir hızla gelişen teknoloji nedeniyle çoğu zaman sektörün gerisinde kalmakta, mezun olan öğrenciler sektöre hemen ayak uyduramamakta, işletmeler bu mezunlara belli bir süre uyum eğitimi vermek zorunda kalmaktadırlar. Bu durum hem zaman hem de işgücü kaybına neden olmaktadır.
Bu makalede, yukarıda belirtilen olumsuz durumu ortadan kaldırabilmek için farklı bir işbaşı eğitim modeli önerilmektedir. Meslek eğitiminin çeşitli seviyelerinde yaz stajı veya eğitim öğretim dönemi içinde belli günlerde işletmede çalışma şeklinde uygulanmakta olan işbaşı eğitiminin geliştirilmesiyle ortaya çıkan bu modele göre, birinci sınıfta önceden olduğu gibi Meslek Yüksekokulunun fiziki imkanları ile temel mesleki eğitim verilecek, ikinci sınıfın güz ve bahar yarıyıllarında ise her bir dönem başında mesleki konularla ilgili teorik eğitim verildikten sonra dönemin geri kalanında öğrenciler uygulama eğitimlerini almak üzere işletmelere gönderilecektir.
Meslek Yüksekokullarının tüm programlarında uygulanabilecek olan bu model sayesinde, hem Meslek Yüksekokulları günün şartlarına uygun atölye ve laboratuar kurma yükümlüğü ve masrafından kurtaracak, hem sektördeki işletmeler Meslek Yüksekokullarının uygulama sahası haline getirilerek sektörle organik bir bağ oluşturulacak, hem de öğrenciler günün şartlarına uygun ve işletmelerin istedikleri yetilere sahip olarak yetiştirilmiş olacaktır. Söz konusu modelin uygulanmasıyla ilgili çalışmalar, ilk olarak Ege üniversitesi Ege Meslek Yüksekokulu Uçak Teknolojisi ve Sivil Hava Ulaştırma İşletmeciliği Programlarında başlatılmış bulunmaktadır.

HRM is a specialized functional area of business that attempts to develop programmes, policies and activities to promote the job satisfaction of both individual and organizational needs, goals and objectives. Job satisfaction is the end feeling of a person after performing a task in each and every organization in the world. Objectives of the study are identifying the employee's job satisfaction level of Rehoboth Motors and impact factors. This study is used the census method using questionnaire in Tirunelveli Branch of Rehoboth Motors Company. Weighted Average Method found that, employees were satisfied and identified various factors impacting on job satisfaction level as well as suggested to improve the welfare facilities. Hopefully believe that the Management can further bring out their labour with full satisfaction and obtain good result in the future.

A panel of experienced human factors practitioners and researchers discusses the challenges encountered when measuring and quantifying human performance on the job and during system design and development. The panel, comprised of government/military researchers with expertise in human factors engineering, human systems integration, research psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, physics, systems engineering, and mechanical engineering, focuses not only on the challenges they have encountered, but also on the underlying human performance measurement issues and various approaches they have taken to address them. Understanding, measuring, evaluating and predicting factors that influence human performance is not only critical for the design of effective systems and programs of instruction, but also for overall job performance and mission effectiveness. Panelists will discuss critical factors and insights that are generalizable across a wide range of products and industry sectors as well as those that warrant further investigation.
