Sexual Deviant Behaviour

Although, much is currently known about hypersexuality (in form of excessive sexual behavior) among sexual offenders, the degree to which hypersexual behavior is linked to paraphilic and especially pedophilic interests in non-forensic populations has not been established. The purpose of the present study was to elucidate the associations between total sexual outlets (TSO) and other sex drive indicators, antisocial behavior, pedophilic interests, and sexual offending behavior in a large population-based community sample of males. The sample included 8,718 German men who participated in an online study. Hypersexual behavior as measured by self-reported TSO, self-reported sex drive, criminal history, and pedophilic interests were assessed. In moderated hierarchical logistic regression analyses self-reported contact sexual offending against children was linked to sexual fantasizing about children and antisociality. There was no association between aggregated sex drive, and sexual abusive behaviour in the multivariate analyses. In contrast, self-reported child pornography consumption was associated with sex drive, sexual fantasies involving children, and antisociality. Nevertheless, in clinical practice an assessment of criminal history and pedophilic interests in hypersexual individuals and vice versa hypersexuality in antisocial or pedophilic men should be considered as particularly antisociality and pedophilic interest are important predictors of sexual offending against prepubescent children.

Background: The scale and scope of experience of sexual harassment
at work among male and female flight attendants was examined.
Flight attendants are a predominantly female workforce with an occupational
heritage of female and male sexualized stereotypes.
Method: Data represented perception and prevalence of sexual harassment
related to hostile work environment among 8,700 North
American (U.S. and Canada) and 1,887 United Kingdom (UK) flight
attendants in the Flight Attendant Health Study.
Results: Sexual harassment, mostly from passengers, pilots, and coworkers,
was reported by 26% of North American flight attendants and 11% of UK
flight attendants. Yet, 61% of UK flight attendants experienced unwanted
sexual behaviors, pointing to possible underreporting of the sexual harassment
problem. Sexually offensive behaviors received variable labeling as
sexual harassment depending on gender of the victim and perpetrator profile.
Conclusion: Sexual harassment is a potentially underreported workplace
problem for flight attendants with underreporting resulting from
gender-specific differences in individual perceptions. Understanding
these differences is vital to addressing sexual harassment and the
concomitant health risks. Traditional client and customer attitudes
might lead to rose-colored victims’ judgment, especially in the case
of customer service jobs involving emotional labor. Our results provide
new information to guide future research regarding well-being of this
understudied group of service employees.

La ideología de género ha puesto de manifiesto el problema de relación entre la biología y la subjetividad, es decir, el problema de la relación entre lo orgánico de nuestro cuerpo y el modo que tenemos de interpretar y comprendernos a nosotros y al mundo. Si bien la biología es algo recibido, la subjetividad tiene un fuerte componente de construcción personal. En la ideología de género el problema se concreta en el diálogo entre el sexo y la experiencia subjetiva que de este tenemos: ¿Cómo entender y relacionar mi realidad sexual con la experiencia personal que tengo de ella?
La hipótesis central que vamos a sostener es que la biología y la subjetividad no deben entenderse por separado para luego proceder a  explicar su vinculación, ya que se relacionan mutuamente desde su  mismo origen. La estructura del libro está supeditada al estudio de  esta hipótesis. El primer capítulo es un estudio preliminar que  pretende situar al lector en el contexto actual donde se moverá  nuestra hipótesis. Esta exposición nos permitirá que en el segundo  capítulo podamos concretar nuestra línea argumentativa, esto es, la  hipótesis y los objetivos que nos proponemos alcanzar con su  verificación. Para facilitar al lector nuestro itinerario, hemos titulado el  tercer, cuarto y quinto capítulo con preguntas claras y directas a las  que, en cada caso, trataremos de dar respuesta. El tercer capítulo se  titula ¿Qué es la sexualidad en el ser humano? Y el cuarto, ¿Hasta  qué punto podemos incidir en al realidad sexuada del ser humano?  Procedemos de este modo ya que el conocimiento de cuál es la  relación entre el sexo y su experiencia subjetiva (pregunta uno) nos va  a dar las claves de cómo modificar esa relación (pregunta dos). Para  verificar la consistencia de la postura tomada en el presente trabajo,  en el siguiente capítulo confrontaremos esta propuesta con  situaciones particulares del desarrollo de la sexualidad que pueden  estar relacionadas con problemas de disconformidad identitaria. Es  decir ¿qué ocurre cuando mi biología y mi experiencia subjetiva no  apuntan en la misma dirección? O ¿qué ocurre cuando una misma  realidad biológica apunta a diversas direcciones? Como veremos, esta  situación podrá acarrear a quien la viva confusión acerca de “quién  soy yo” o, por el contrario, podrá vivirse sin que sea causa de  confusión sobre la propia identidad. Todo esto lo estudiaremos, en el  capítulo sexto titulado ¿Qué nueva información aporta el estudio de  casos especiales?”. Cabe destacar que estos tres capítulos  formulados a modo de preguntas terminan con un subapartado donde,  a modo de conclusiones, recopilamos las ideas centrales alcanzadas.  Por último, terminamos con un capítulo, el séptimo, donde recogemos  a modo de conclusión lo alcanzado a lo largo de todo el estudio.

Introduction: Rape and pedophilic child molestation are the most commonly convicted sexual offenses in Poland. Recent studies have suggested a possible genetic contribution toward pathologic sexual interests and behaviors. Aim: To analyze and compare functional polymorphisms of genes associated with the activity of the serotonin and dopamine systems in a group of paraphilic sexual offenders and control subjects. Methods: The study sample (n ¼ 97) consisted of two groups: paraphilic sexual offenders (65 pedophilic child molesters and 32 rapists) and controls (n ¼ 76). Genetic polymorphisms previously associated with behavioral control, addictive behaviors, and sexual functions were chosen for analyses. Specifically, functional poly-morphisms in dopamine receptors genes (DRD1, DRD2, DRD4), catechol-O-methyltransferase gene (COMT), dopamine transporter gene (DAT), serotonin transporter gene (SLC6A4), serotonin type 2A receptor gene (5HTR2A), tryptophan hydroxylase 2 gene (TPH2), monoamine oxidase A gene (MAOA), and brain-derived neurotrophic factor gene (BDNF) were analyzed. Main Outcome Measures: An association between a history of sexual offense and the distribution of genotypes and alleles in the analyzed polymorphisms. Results: Our results found no association between a history of sexual offense and the distribution of genotypes or alleles in the analyzed polymorphisms. Conclusion: Although these results are limited by the small sample and are exploratory, they highlight a novel approach to sample selection in a population that is difficult to access and study. Future research should include larger samples and other relevant polymorphisms to advance this field of study.
