UGC

The article presents the results of a content analysis of the materials of Belarusian online media, which apply user-generated content from social media. The author identifies three strategies for its use: the source of information occasions, when social media posts become a starting point for journalistic material; the source of opinions and estimations, when user-generated content is used to evaluate and visualize public mood; the source of additional facts and illustrations (photos, video) to supplement media materials. The article summarizes the best practices of Belarusian and Russian editorial offices, the advantages and disadvantages of each strategy of user-generated content usage, and identifies factors that determine the probability of applying social media posts in journalistic publications

The purpose of this study to identify the influence of user generated content on purchase intention of automobiles in Sri Lanka. The said study is based on the theory of Uses and Gratification and supportive findings. This study has been addressed the survey type research method and structured questionnaire was used to collect data and utilize sample frame of automobile followers on Facebook. Measuring the influence of user generated content on purchase intention through developed hypotheses. Researchers have used analysis technique of descriptive analysis, regression, and frequency test where statistical package for social science (SPSS) was used as the main analytical software. The results of the study discuss the main eight element affect the purchase intention of automobiles, but the two elements not strongly affect the purchase intention which were namely, homophily and trust. These two elements have weak relationship with the purchase intention. Mainly consumer resonance mediating the user generated characteristics to purchase intention of automobiles. Hence this study has been significantly contributing to the existing knowledge explaining the need, motivation (users and gratification)-consumer resonance-intention linkage in customer behaviour.

Animation and VFX is one of the booming and fast growing industries in India at present. Animation and VFX requires a specific skill set by an aspirant. These specific skills are not catered by the traditio nal education as they require additional learning and practicing. In fact Private educational institutes capitalized the opportunity and introduced various certificate and diploma courses in order to fill the skill set gap. After identifying and realizing the need of authenticated certification, leading Universities have taken adequate efforts to introduce degree courses with enhanced curriculum. As an appreciation of the efforts of the leading Universities, the researcher has tried his best to highlight the challenges arising out of this effort. Failure by leading Universities to recognize Animation and VFX as one of the streams of education and recognizing Animation and VFX as a single discipline has no doubt resulted in confusion and dilemma for the aspirants. Also challenges in recognition of Animation and VFX as a field of education as compared to traditional field are briefly explained in this research paper.

Many of us are constantly referring UGC regulations on Teachers qualifications, 2010 and 2018. Unfortunately, these documents available on UGC website are unfriendly and some, unsearchable. It also has Hindi translations clubbed with English. There is no contents page!  Also long pages for librarians, physical education teachers etc are not required for us. To top it all, we have many amendments. KUTO has compiled a edited and indexed version of both regulations along with amendments, which are attached. We are sure that this will save time and ease our reference. We present it to all teachers.

Purpose. Accommodation sharing is a major trend shaping the hospitality industry, and Airbnb is the most prominent sharing platform driving this growth. While price convenience is reported as one of the main strengths of Airbnb accommodations, only a few studies have examined price determinants. In particular, it is unclear whether hosts dynamically adjust prices for shared accommodation based on their experience with price management and on the level of market demand. This paper intends to fill this gap by suggesting and testing a comprehensive hedonic pricing model.
Methodology. Data from all 1,056 Airbnb listings for accommodations available in the city of Verona (Italy) on four booking dates in 2016 are collected and analysed through regression analysis.
Findings. The results highlight that price is significantly related to the level of the host’s accumulated experience and to the level of market demand on a specific booking date. The findings provide support for the ability of hosts to dynamically adjust prices for their accommodations.
Practical implications. Drawing on the innovator’s dilemma theory, this study suggests some strategies that traditional hotels may adopt to react to the disruptive nature of Airbnb.
Originality/value. This is one of the few studies to address hosts’ pricing strategies and to specifically consider price adjustments owing to variations in host experience and market demand.

En este trabajo se analiza la microcelebridad como una práctica social auspiciada por una cultura que potencia la idea de celebridad como éxito social y por políticas mediáticas de creación y explotación de celebridades que han sancionado simbólicamente la autorrevelación de lo cotidiano y lo íntimo como contenidos merecedores de la atención de los otros. Caminos útiles en la consecución de la visibilidad mediática, en definitiva. El asentamiento cultural de esta idea habría encontrado en la autocomunicación de masas (Castells, 2009) el vehículo para que el usuario desintermedie el acceso a audiencias potencialmente masivas mediante contenidos generados por este, lo que podría rebajar las barreras de entrada al mercado de la celebridad. La microcelebridad emplearía así su perfil social como un micromedio, al que debe dotar de una emisión continuada de ítems generados por ella, por terceros en torno a ella o autogenerados por la plataforma (lifestreaming).

A large body of research has explored the employment of user-generated content (UGC) in journalism websites. While rich and informative, accumulated research offers discrete insights
into an array of research questions but lacks a comprehensive account of the larger picture that emerges. With this in mind, we propose an analytical framework for evaluating UGC’s roles in professional news websites. Based on a synthesis of accumulated research, we differentiate between the realm of journalism as a business and a practice; and the realm of democracy, wherein news media may play a role as a public sphere and a means of political empowerment. By offering a comprehensive examination of key findings and themes arising from UGC research, the article seeks to advance our understanding of the evolving news media landscape. It concludes with directions for further research.

La investigación se basa en el análisis de las herramientas participativas, así como de la visibilidad que se otorga a los contenidos elaborados por los usuarios y las modalidades de control practicadas por los diarios. El trabajo, fruto de la colaboración de expertos de varias universidades y centros de investigación, parte de la necesidad acuciante de fijar el momento para analizar cómo se articula la participación en los sitios periodísticos y reflexionar sobre los cauces que se abren a la expresión de ia ciudadanía a través de los nuevos medios de comunicación.

Social media and “citizen journalism” have arguably changed the face of traditional newsgathering. This paper examines how social media and user-generated content (UGC), specifically video, have been integrated by BBC World News into their coverage of conflicts, with Syria as the main case study. Drawing on interviews with BBC News staff, a newsroom
ethnography and a content analysis of BBC World News TV reports, this research asks: What are the challenges for journalists wishing to use UGC? What are the skillsets needed? And is the role of the journalist itself changing, with news becoming more “social” as it is being gathered and disseminated on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter? This paper argues that journalists have been forced to react to issues pertaining to UGC newsgathering, verification
and dissemination. The study contributes to literature examining how UGC is used by news outlets. It also considers the extent to which the role of the journalist itself is being redefined as new products are launched. The findings illustrate that UGC has, at times, been used extensively to cover events in Syria, but ideally complements journalists’ own reportage. The
research also highlights the crucial role played by journalists, harvesting and checking content found online.

This chapter examines how eyewitness footage travels from the street, through verification procedures in newsrooms, or diffusion on social media until it reaches our screens, and whether its ubiquity, the fact it is now systematically collected, processed and authenticated by newsrooms, has changed the mediation and visibility of protests. It argues that eyewitness footage is polysemic and polyvalent, because it is easily stripped of the context of its original upload, to appear in different contexts, with different descriptions, advancing different interpretation of events and different political goals. Eyewitness media of protests complicates journalism's task of providing a trusted record of the present.

This research provides a review of research on user generated content in the Israeli online journalism landscape. Findings reveal that scholarly attention has been focused primarily on user comments, with initial insight on the role of blogs and citizen journalism in Israeli journalism landscape. Methodologically, research is derived primarily from interviews with newsroom staff, and case study content analyses. The review suggests that future research should complement current data with user-based inquiry about orientations and use of UGC, and examine the role of Israeli culture in the practice of UGC.

The 2009 protests in Iran and the 2011 Arab uprisings took place in complex and fast evolving media ecologies. The BBC's Persian and Arabic language services, which reach millions, drew heavily on content created by ordinary citizens to cover events. This paper traces the flow of this content through the news process to examine how collaboration between newsrooms and citizen journalists changed from 2009 to 2011. The article argues that participation in the news process hinges on the congruence between newsroom practices, and the practices of those producing content on the streets. Such congruence requires mutual knowledge of broadcasting requirements. It finds that by 2011 journalists felt more comfortable and effective integrating user-generated content (UGC) into their news output. Importantly, UGC creators appear to have taken on board the broadcaster's editorial requirements, making them savvier content creators.

El cambio climático es la principal amenaza medioambiental de nuestra era, no solo por sus dramáticas consecuencias, que año tras año van adquiriendo un mayor grado de certeza, sino también por su elevado nivel de contestación en el ámbito social e institucional. A ello contribuye una cobertura mediática duramente cuestionada por parte de los académicos, debido a la falta de contextualización, la atención prestada a voces escépticas, la presencia cíclica en la agenda y el tratamiento sensacionalista. En los últimos años, el desarrollo tecnológico ha potenciado la creación de contenidos por parte de los usuarios, en lo que se ha dado a conocer como CGU. YouTube suma 100 nuevas horas de contenidos cada minuto, y alberga una audiencia casi universal. Por estos
motivos, consideramos relevante comprobar si esta nueva vía comunicativa ha permitido a los ciudadanos elaborar, o favorecer mediante su visualización, aquel tipo de información que demandan de los profesionales. Para ello proponemos un análisis de contenido sobre los vídeos creados por usuarios particulares, bajo la etiqueta de cambio climático, y situados entre los 50 que acumulan un mayor número de visualizaciones. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que los usuarios reproducen las mismas deficiencias detectadas en las coberturas profesionales, al priorizar las consecuencias sobre la contextualización, otorgar un amplio espacio a los escépticos y realizar un acercamiento basado en el dramatismo, tanto a nivel textual como visual.

Since 1986, the University Grants Commission in India has made it compulsory for all applicants to the position of Assistant Professor to take the National Eligibility Test (NET). This commentary looks at the contents and objectives of the NET and asks:whether NET really contributes towards the improvement in the quality of teaching and training in journalism schools. To ensure the quality of higher education in India, the government established a statutory body, the University Grants Commission, in November 1956, through an Act of Parliament. The UGC primarily oversees the standards of university education and faculty appointments. One of its main tools of quality control is the National Eligibility Test (NET) and State Eligibility Test (SET) for lecturers conducted in June and December each year. With the growing concern for establishing a method of recruitment that ensures 'merit, objectivity and conformity with spatial and functional requirements' (University Grants Commission), the Mehrotra Committee in 1983 recommended that the NET/SET be made mandatory for appointments of lecturers in colleges and universities. In 1986, a Program of Action of National Policy of Education was implemented. Today, all applicants for the position of an assistant professor in journalism and mass communication must meet the following conditions: 1. Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55 per cent marks at the Masters' level.

Often seen as catalysts of social change, educators shape ideas and beliefs in all societies and thereby contribute towards formation of new thought patterns which are also dynamic in nature. This contribution becomes all the more significant in higher education where concerns of learning are embedded in rich traditions of theoretical research. Academic criticality gives way to new systems of thoughts and ideas, some of which also enter the public domain. Change is inevitable and requires mechanisms to adapt with changing knowledge systems and environments. All this also has a global dimension today.
Academic Staff Colleges (ASC) were established as centres for teachers training in higher education based on the recommendation of National Policy in Education (NPE), 1986 in response to a felt necessity of the crucial linkages between teacher motivation and quality of education. Over the last three decades, since their inception, thousands of Orientation and Refresher Courses have been organized at these colleges. These centres of teacher training have come to occupy a national significance in terms of being acknowledged as knowledge upgradation platforms for higher education teachers. Seen from this perspective, faculty development is aligned with the ability to adapt with shifts in systems of knowledge production.

Social movements have been transformed in the last decade by social networks, where the dynamics of the social protests have evolved and have been structured and viralized through social media. They are no longer just conversations between activists that stay on social platforms. The cyberactivism that takes place on Twitter or Instagram can also play a significant role in general society by influencing government decision making or shaping the relationships between citizens. In this chapter, the authors explore the main activist movements that took place in social media in the last decade: Occupy, BlackLivesMatter, and MeToo. The proposed approach used in this study facilitates the comparison of each movement while focusing on the user-generated content in social media. This study suggests the presence of four major categories to frame the content generated by the activists. The chapter concludes with the identification of three different approaches to the research of a future research agenda that should be considered for the study of the social movements from the UGC theory framework.

cautivar a tan preciada generación de consumidores.
