Lesson title: Question tags
Type of lesson: grammar lesson;
Lesson (main) aims: - to introduce new grammar issues- question tags- and to be able to use
them;
-to complete some exercises by listening to a tape
Skills: speaking, reading, writing, listening
Anticipated language problems: Pupils/students could become a bit noisy when working in
pairs/groups; some of them (the dominant ones) may try to answer too often and exclude the
others. In some cases, pupils may not understand the task given by the teacher;
Possible solutions: the teacher may ask pupils simultaneously to speak; He/She may repeat the
task in order to be clear for everybody;
Teaching aids: the manual, a handout, pupils notebooks, the blackboard, a tape recorder, a tape;
Modes of interaction: teacher-student, student-student, pair-work;

Activity 1

Aim: To familiarize the pupils with the new lesson;


Procedure: First of all pupils are going to open their books at page 11, then they are going to
listen to exercise 1 and they are going to describe what they just heard.
Interaction: lockstep

Materials: manual, tape recorder, tape;
Class management: whole class activity;
Timing: 7 minutes
Activity 2
Aim: To listen to the tape again, the read according to the tape and to identify bold words;
Procedure: As the lesson continues, pupils are listening again to the tape, and then they are trying
to identify the new grammar problem that is being introduced to them.
Interaction: T-Ss;

Skills: speaking, listening, writing, reading;
Materials: manual, tape recorder, tape;
Class management: whole class activity;
Timing: 10 minutes
Activity 3
Aims: To be able to complete a written exercise in pairs;
Procedure: In the following moment the teacher encourages pair work and invites her pupils to
complete exercise 2 page 11.

Materials: manual, pupils notebooks;

Activity 4

Aim: To be able to understand the newly acquired information;


Procedure: Pupils are invited to copy Language Focus, page 12, then the teacher explains to them
the information that they just read.

Materials: manual, pupils notebooks;
Class management: whole class activity;
Timing: 10 minutes
Activity 5
Aims: To practice the newly acquired information;
Procedure: The teacher invites her pupils to complete exercise 3 page 12.

Timing: 10 minutes
