Sequence of Events:
I had so much fun today in Mrs. Pittmans class. I started out the day walking through the office and
them telling me I dont need to sign in/sign out which is awesome. Mrs. Pittman didnt show up until
around 8:15 so I just hung out in the pod. My other former teachers were there so we talked about
Education 2020 and of course tried to talk me into going to their classrooms. Mrs. Pittman really lets
me explore her classroom. She didnt mind me being nosey and asking her questions either. I
explained to her the assignments I had to complete along with coming here, asked me about college,
and talked about who Ive worked with before her class. Ever since an incident that happened on the
bus a few years ago, students arent allowed to hang out on the bus until 8:30 so they came in early.
All the students came in super confused seeing me. I love how Mrs. Pittman shakes every student's
hand and says good morning. They do their own lunch, planner, and starts working on other work
until ready for instruction. She plays the song Happy which tells the kids to get on the carpet. They
were SO full of questionsWanting to know what high school was like, asking me to come back for
the other half of the year, why I wanted to be a teacher, etc. I loved how I could actually answer them
fully without changing my tone and having a huge filter. The students went back to their desk and
took the NWEA test which is like Star or Acuity testing. I walked around helping with technology
problems and Mrs. Pittman went over some students with me. I read documents with students IEP
information and diagnosis. Of course, I would never look at a student differently but it was hard to
read about students that seemed like you and I. The students went to specials and I left. This might be
the first day but I am super in love with this class already

Sequence of Events:
I got there at 8:15 which is the time Mrs. Pittman gets there. I had my little sisters too with me since
they arent allowed in the classrooms until 8:20. I got started cutting out my sentence structure
notecards for the kids. One tip I learned was to laminate as much as you can. Not only is the cutting
easier, but they could never be torn. Today was more of a regular routine since the students knew
who I was. Mrs. Pittman had special handshakes which each of the kids which I know I want to do
when I have my own. Id say I could start it now but Im only here for two weeks and my
kindergarteners back at English Landing are a little too little for it. They shake hands and Mrs. Pittman
makes sure they make eye contact. I love how she makes sure that the students have social skills. I
was still cutting by the time all the students were in. They completed their daily morning work which
is writing in their planner and leaving it out, hanging up their backpacks, and going to Prodigy which is
a computer application where they do math, reading, and science activities. We split into reading
groups. I have a spelling test and Mrs. Pittman taught a game. After my group of kids took the test, we
graded them and tracked their score on a data chart that they have in a folder on their desk. Mrs.
Pittman read a non-fiction book and had a table going that compared characters inner and outer
emotions. Coming from kindergarten, it was weird seeing students understand more grown up
things. For example, a character in the book lives with his grandparents instead of his parents. It was
more the students who talked about how its okay to live like that, not the teacher. The whole fourth
grade classroom has a goal of reading 60 books for the first quarter. They only need about 20 more.
Mrs. Pittman has a table with every students name on it to record where they are in the book and
what the book is called. Ill be sure to do this because its important that you know your students are
reading the right book and arent staying on one book the entire year. We packed up, went to
specials, and then I left.

Sequence of Events:
I got to the classroom around 8:10 and talked about our night and our plans for the day. The students
started their day in Ms. Millers room. Instead of coming to Mrs. Pittmans room, they read, finish
homework, and socialize in Ms. Millers room. Since Mrs. Pittman started doing personalized
handshakes with the students, I stood beside her and did the same handshake with the students.
Even though they arent my own, I thought itd be good to have that extra personalization. The
students filled out their planner, pulled out their homework, and either read or played prodigy. The
students then transitioned to their word groups. Since I already gave a group of students their tests, I
decided to work with other groups. The group I worked with is the regular sort. Thats when the
students get the page of the word, cut it, sort the words in the three categories they think best fits,
and writes them in planner. Its funny hearing their ideas. We have one student who has a very bad
home life and comes in later in the day since she was at the nurse brushing her hair and teeth. She
came in and read her book, finished her homework, and then we gave her a little break to draw. After
she was done drawing, she transitioned to the rug where we were talking about climax in a story. I sat
by her and asked her questions to make sure she was engaged. I felt bad for her because she does
know the answers, just doesnt word them correctly. I walked the students down to specials and
came down to the classroom. I created 7 poster boards over changing characters talks over the book
they were reading. I realized how much a perfectionist I am when it comes to making stuff.

I had no morning practice so I woke up at 7:00am and was feeling real good. I got ready, ate some
eggs, and went to Hawthorn. I walked in and Mrs. Pittman left to go give banana bread out to the
other teachers. I asked to finish the changing characters posters and finished in about 5 minutes. Mrs.
Pittman and I greeted the kids and they started on their normal morning work. Mrs. Pittman has a
Power Point for the week that explains what to do for the morning work. It has a cute theme and
everything for each day. They filled out their planners, turned in their homework since its technically
the end of the week, and read or played Prodigy. I walked around and talked to students like normal. I
love how they are so interested in me. Maybe its just because Im new, but I love how they call me
over, not me always going to them. I talked to Tori, Laney, and Sophia about their cute little erasers. I
helped Alex with his Prodigy game simply because he didnt know what the question was asking. It
was cool seeing the light bulb light up when he finally got it. The question gave him a chart with 12
dots on it and he had to count them and identify which placeholder each number was in. Say it was
11, the tens place would be one and the ones place would be one. We then transitioned to our small
groups where you either did a crazy 8 game with your groups, a regular short where you cut, sort, and
write the words in your planner, glue words in your notebook and check with other students, or meet
with the teacher for your spelling test over the words. I just mingled with the groups, asking how they
were doing. We transitioned to the climax chart groups where the kids made a chart over the book
they were reading. However, the counselor came in and talked to the students about being assertive
and respecting others. Gosh, I wish I could be this counselor. Her voice is so calm and she is beautiful
inside and out. I loved listening to her talked. While she was giving her lesson, I out grades in the
grade book. After the counselor was done, I walked the students to specials. Mrs. Pittman and I talked
about the students individually and she answered any questions I had.

Sequence of Events:
Today was a slower, more boring day. It started as a usual morning but all fourth grade students that
come early or ride the bus came in Mrs. Pittmans room. There were a goo chunk of students, maybe
40 or so. The 8:20 bell rang and the students that were ours went back to their classrooms. We had to
immediately start of our reading test. Its called NWEA and its just like AR and Star test from when I
was in elementary schools. Some students were done with it already so they read and wrote theory
post-its in their reading group books. The other handful of students that were taking the test had a
hard time logging on. Its a new program so teachers are figuring it out with the students. I watched
over the students to make sure that capitalized letters were capitalized, ect. I felt bad for a couple
students because the program is so sensitive. One students pushed the back button on the last
question and it shut down the entire test. He had to restart completely. Another student was using
the touchscreen which was messing up the program. While they were testing, I walked around and
asked the students questions about their post-it, how their weekend was, and how everything was
going. We have one student who has really bad anxiety that was testing. I could tell she was having a
hard time focusing and kept fidgeting. She was on question 25 so about 30 minutes of testing. I went
up to her and asked her if she was doing okay and just rubbed her back a little bit to calm her down.
She was fine which is what I was hoping because Im not sure how Id react if something did happen.
Like do I help her or leave her be? I went to the printer in the office and printed off some writing of
the students for Mrs. Pittman. We transition to specials and high fived the students into Art.

Sequence of Events:
Today was definitely a faster paced day. Like yesterday, all fourth grade students came in to Mrs.
Pittmans room. I started the morning making 100 copies of a math test the students are taking
tomorrow. I thought teachers took so much time stapling all of those packets together Jokes on me,
I figured out how to staple packets together too and I thought it was the coolest thing. I separated
them into stacks of 25 and delivered them to the other fourth grade teachers. The students filled out
their planner and got their math homework out to turn in since it was the end of the unit. I walked
around and talked. Kids have such an interesting life! My life seems so boring compared to some of
the stuff they tell me. I went to the skate park, went to Main Event, and then went to Freddys for
dinner. I was excited for them and thought about what I did the night before...homework. I put some
grades in the grade book which was kind of different. Mrs. Pittman makes a Google Doc with all their
grades which is convenient. I helped a student with her science homework which left me with such a
good feeling. I described the situation one way and I could tell she was still a little confused. I gave her
a real life example and showed her and it clicked instantly. You could tell she was super happy with
herself too which I knew she needed. We had our reading groups and thats when Natalie came in to
evaluate. I kind of just hoped into a group and we did a speed sort game with our group. We
transitioned to reading a class book called Mr. Terrupt and I made another character changing chart.
We developed theories about characters, transitioned to PE, and came back to do the interview.

Sequence of Events:
This morning went really well. I greeted all the fourth grade students that came in and talked to the
other students that arent in my class. Its cool seeing them all interested in me since they dont have
a student teacher/intern. The bell rang and the students left. I walked around and talked to the other
studentsJust asking how their night was and how their morning was. Although I wasnt planning on
it, I sat with one student for five minutes talking to her about her family. She did most of the talking.
She told me about her parents and step parents, vacations, and how long she reads. We have a
student each week that stamps their planner if they have a parents signature. The student I was
talking to did not and it upset her to her mom forgot to. I just told her that her mom can sign for
today and tomorrow tonight and itll be okay. We broke into our word work stations. I walked about
and helped. One group made a Scrabble out of the words, another played crazy 8s, and the last one
sorted the words in e-drop, VVC, magic e, and nothing groups. I watched Mrs. Pittman give a reading
test where the student reads out loud and answers some questions. It was interesting to see how
many questions are asked and how they answer them. She grades on the amount of words the
students miss, how many words the students misses but then corrects, and how many questions were
answered correctly. I graded some homework afterwards which was a little tricky because I didnt
know what could slide and what couldnt. The most exciting part of my day was when a student that
struggles came up to me showing me her new shoes. I wish I had a picture of her face when she told
me. This is exactly why I want to be a teacher.

It hit me today that tomorrow is my last day. Morning started out like normal. I greeted the kids and
walked around to talk to them. I cut out green paper with the kids parent teacher conference times
and stapled them in their notebook before they put it away for the day. I believe having a planner
helps them, even though some might think its just another thing to do. It helps answer their
questions about the day which is good for the teacher as well. Im not too sure how I feel about
parents required to sign. I understand that some parents really care to know what they did at school.
Some students come home with the Oh, I did nothing today at school. Those parents might want to
see to sign. However, I know my mom, whether she said it or not, thought it was just another school
chore for me. I had a student come up to me and asked me if Ill be at parent teacher conferences to
meet her parents. It was super funny because she was telling me how she tells her parents about me
all the time. We transitioned to word work for the day and all groups did a secret code activity. Mrs.
Pittman printed out and laminated a chart that had the alphabet and a pictures that corresponded
with it. For example, A would have an apple. The kids got their spelling words out and made code
words out of the pictures. We all enjoyed this activity because it was different but still helped them
with their spelling words. The councilor came in and talked about autism while Mrs. Pittman and I
went to the copy room. When Mrs. Ottis showed me how to copy, I was confused but still went with
it. Now Im pro and can cop just about anything. We went back, took the students to specials, and I
left. Super sad to leave my kids tomorrow.

Sequence of Events:
Today was such a happy but sad day. The morning started out with greetings kids and talking to a new
group of girls I havent yet. They were asking me questions left and right. This is when the students
started to figure out that today was my last day. They were all very talkative with me this morning.
We did the normal morning procedure which includes filling out the planner, making their lunch
choice, and working on work that isnt finished yet. I walked around and really made sure I talked to
every single student. The students transitioned their book clubs while Mrs. Pittman made popcorn for
out little going away party. Just like the first day of class, I sat in the grey chair and answered
questions the students had. They really want me to come back next semester and I know I want to go
back. Mrs. Pittman pulled out a poetry book from my fourth grade year when I was a student. It was
an If book. Of course, me being a non-reader, I said, If books could talk, students wouldnt have
to read ever. I had some spelling errors and the kids noticed them immediately. We got ready for
Art, walked down, and said see you soon to the kids since they told me to come back before I left.
While they were at specials, all the fourth grade teachers delivered the spirit deliveries with snacks
and drinks. They all pitch in money at the beginning of the year, then deliver the first Friday of every
month. Once that was over, I ran into my boss from work who works there, talked to her for a bit, and
then went back to the art room. The kids got me a picture frame with the quote that says, Wherever
you go, you will always succeed. The sides of the picture frame have the kids name on it. The kids
also made cards and gave me earrings that I LOVE. I was so sad to leave and I know the kids were too.
These past two weeks have been such an awesome experience.
